“A beautiful example of musical integrity … exceptional warmth”
Liubov Ulybysheva
Russian cellist Liubov Ulybysheva studied in Moscow at the Gnessin Special Music School and in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (graduated with 1st class honours in 2007) and the Royal Academy of Music (Master of Arts). Her teachers have included Stefan Popov, Oleg Kogan and Felix Schmidt. She came to London in 2003 and since then she has won numerous prizes and awards including the MBF Music Award, the Muriel Taylor Award, the Hattori Foundation Award and the First Prize in 2006 Tunbridge Wells Young Concert Artist Competition. In 2008 she became a winner of the Kenneth Loveland Gift and the Jellinek Award which led to a performance of the Brahms Double Concerto with the Guildford Symphony Orchestra. As an orchestra musician she has worked with the London Symphony and the Philharmonia Orchestras. |
In 2006 Liubov was invited to join the Razumovsky Academy which offers opportunities to learn and to perform at the highest professional level. She regularly takes part in Razumovsky Academy events in London’s Wigmore Hall and other venues as well as Razumovsky Festivals in Britain and abroad.
She has participated in numerous music festivals in England and abroad, such as Alderburgh Festival, Manchester International Cello Festival, Valdres Festival in Norway and the Paxos Music Festival in Greece.
As a soloist and chamber musician she has performed in many notable venues across Russia, England, Europe and Japan. She has recently made her solo debut at the Wigmore Hall in July 2008 as a part of Razumovsky Young Artists Concert Series, performing works by Debussy and Brahms. Future engagements include a concert with the Epsom Symphony Orchestra in October 2008 and a recital at the Cardiff University in February 2009.
Liubov plays on a Salomon cello, Paris 1790 on loan from the Royal Academy of Music. |
